27 April 2010 19:20 E.D.T. A few weeks ago I added information about myself and my late wife Dynthia Fagans Doremus, who was younger sister of Leslie-Jo Fagans Van Iderstine. We were married 7 August 1971 at Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, in Somerset County, New Jersey. Leslie-Jo's husband Peter gave away the bride since their father Lester Earle Fagans had died 10 years earlier. Lester was a famous Seascape Artist and a musician. Peter is President of Van Iderstine Speed Shops and lives in California. His wife Leslie-Jo died about a year ago. Peter is father of three daughters Kendall, Jennifer, and Ericka each of whom have provided him with 1 or more grandchildren. My wife Dynthia died November of 1991 while our two children Jody Louise and William Lester were still very young. It would be nice if we all could know each other better. Since I am the fourth of five children and each of them are scattered it would be very nice if we could share some of our experiences. Best regards Bill

The PEI branch of the United Empire Loyalist Association has finally reprinted the 1983 edition of the book "An Island Refuge". They have updated some family lineages including the Van Iderstine information I forwarded to them in 2002. The book has been a long time getting to press due to an aging executive on the UEL Association. You may order copies directly from David Hunter : dhunter@islandregister.com I have pasted below the announcement that David Hunter put on his website about the book: I picked my copy up last night and it looks great. If you are interested you should contact him directly. AN ISLAND REFUGE REPRINTED! Monday on the way to work, I picked up 200 copies of "An Island Refuge" from the printers. It is now finally ready. I only have to pick up shipping envelopes, then determine postage costs, and then I will begin selling them on behalf of the Abegweit Branch, United Empire Loyalist Association. The price will be $40.00 plus the postage cost CDN or USD. If you are on the Island and pick it up from me, it will only be the $40.00. I will carry a box of them in the car with me. I will be doing more with this this week, and hopefully by Friday can give you full ordering information. For those of you who are new to the Register and to this newsletter, transcribing this book, and putting it in computer format was a project of the Island Register and a number of its users. Many hours went into the work on it, and as a result of our efforts, it is finally back in print. Now, with its new computer format correcting errors in the book will be much easier and can be done between printings. The original book was printed using plates, long lost through the years. The overall quality of the reprint is good, and the Branch is proud to be able to offer it again. To begin with orders will by necessity be cash or cheque, but as I get the time, I will be setting up a Paypal payment system. Ordering details will be available hopefully by the by the end of the week. I will also be updating the book listing on the book review page and on the UEL page as I find time to reflect this new printing. This has been a very long term project - much longer than it should have been, and I am pleased to announce its availability once again! http://www.islandregister.com/booksad.html#air

After our grandfather's birth his parent's passed and the three youngest boys; Charles, Peter and Lemuel were put into an orphanage. When their older sister Rebecca married George Cowan they brought the three boy's home and raised them as their own; changing their names to Cowan. I have been in touch with Gordon Furness and Pamela MacLean and have sincerely appreaciated their correspondance and welcome any correspondance from other relatives. I would love to know our family.
